Start off your day with a delicious breakfast at the hotel before heading to one of the most interesting places related to the Vietnam War period - the Cu Chi Tunnels. Located 60 km from Ho Chi Minh, Cu Chi is a network of over 200km of tunnels that served as underground cities. There are numerous trap doors, specially constructed living areas, storage facilities, weapons factories, field hospitals, command centers and kitchens.
Watch a short introductory video on how the tunnels were constructed before heading to explore these tunnels. You will come across plenty of evidence of the fierce battle that took place here during the 1960s when Cu Chi was a “Free Target Zone”. After exploring the tunnels for an hour, enjoy tea and cassava (guerrilla’s food during the war) and you can even try a shooting session with an AK47 rifle or an M16 cabin in the “free target zone” (bullet fee is paid by yourselves).
Once you are done, head back to Ho Chi Minh City and start your city tour by first visiting the War Remnants Museum. This museum gives you an insight into the Vietnam War period and the impact it had on the country. From here, visit some of the other interesting sites in Ho Chi Minh City such as the Reunification Palace, the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Central Post Office and the Ben Thanh Market.
Finish off your day with a delicious dinner at one of the local restaurants. This way, you can experience the local culture and cuisines of the city.
