After a hearty breakfast, begin your journey to Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan. On the way, take a short stop at the stunning Dochula Pass, located at an altitude of 3,150 meters.

In Punakha:
🏯 Punakha Dzong – Bhutan’s most beautiful fortress at the confluence of Pho Chu and Mo Chu rivers. Built in 1637, it once served as the country’s government seat and is still a winter residence of the chief abbot.
🛕 Chimi Lhakhang (Temple of Fertility) – A temple built by the "Divine Madman," known for fertility blessings.
🌉 Punakha Suspension Bridge – One of the longest and most scenic bridges in Bhutan, decorated with colorful prayer flags. Great for photography and bird watching.

Punakha to Paro – Scenic Drive with Enroute Sightseeing
After breakfast, begin your drive to Paro, a beautiful valley town located at an altitude of 7,483 feet. Along the way, enjoy a few special stops to explore Bhutan’s natural and spiritual beauty.
Royal Botanical Park, Lamperi
Your first stop is at Lamperi, home to the Royal Botanical Park. This lush park is known for its rich biodiversity, with a wide variety of plants, trees, birds, and animals — including some rare and endangered species. It’s a peaceful place to enjoy nature and fresh mountain air.
Chimi Lhakhang – The Fertility Temple
Next, visit Chimi Lhakhang, also known as the Fertility Temple, located near Lobesa. Built in 1499 by Lama Ngawang Chogyal, the 14th abbot of Ralung Monastery, this sacred site sits on a hilltop and is deeply connected to the legendary Divine Madman, Lama Drukpa Kunley. Many couples visit here to seek blessings for children.
